Look Up Washington County Inmate Records

Washington County inmate records start at the sheriff's online jail roster, the place to look up Washington County inmates who are in local custody right now. The roster shows each person on a card with a name, a booking photo, and a link to a fuller profile. From there you can read the charges, the bond, and the booking date. Records for sentenced prisoners, federal inmates, and immigration detainees live in other systems, and knowing which system holds a person saves time. The roster covers current local custody, while older bookings move to a records request and finished cases move to the court clerk.

Washington County Jail Roster Overview

The Washington County Sheriff's Office runs the county jail and publishes the online inmate roster that tracks who is held there. The roster is built on an official OCV and VINE integration, and the data feed reviewed on June 3, 2026 carried 99 records, every one marked in custody and tied to the jail's holding-facility code. The page refreshes from that feed, though the sheriff does not state how often a new booking appears. A released person drops off the roster, and no published window says how long a card stays up after release.

The county roster has limits worth knowing up front. It does not list people sentenced to state prison, who move to the Florida Department of Corrections. It does not list federal inmates, who appear in the Bureau of Prisons locator. It does not list immigration detainees, who show in the ICE system. When a search comes up empty, the next step is to match the kind of custody to the right tool, and the sections below cover each one.

How to Use the Washington County Inmate Roster

The roster is free and needs no login. A last name is enough to begin. The lead-in image below shows the live page, and reviewing the official WCSO inmate roster gives the search box, the mugshot cards, and the pagination at a glance.

That page is the front door for almost every county inmate lookup. The steps below run through a single search.

  1. Open the roster at wcso.us/inmateRoster.
  2. Type the person's last name into the Type to Search field.
  3. Sort by name or booking date, or open Filters to narrow a common name.
  4. Click Read More on the matching card to open the profile with charges, bond, and booking details.

Washington County Roster Search Fields

The roster keeps its controls simple. There is one free-text search box rather than a grid of named fields, plus a sort menu, a filter drawer, and page buttons. Each card carries a Read More link to the profile and a Notify Me of Status Change link to VINELink. The table below lists what the roster actually accepts.

What a Washington County Inmate Profile Shows

Opening a card with Read More brings up the full profile. A sample profile reviewed on June 3, 2026 carried a name in uppercase, a booking photo, a local inmate ID, a height and weight, sex, race, and age, a custody status with a date, a booked date and time, the holding facility, and the reporting agency. It listed a charge code and description with a bond field. The lead-in image below shows that layout. Reviewing a sample WCSO inmate profile shows the mugshot, the demographic block, and the charge and bond fields together.

Some fields are not shown. The sample did not list a date of birth, a housing pod or cell, a court date, an arresting officer, or a projected release date. The fields a visitor can expect are these:

  • Name and mugshot - the full name with a booking photo served through the VINE image service.
  • Inmate ID - a local identifier such as WCSO10MNI005188.
  • Demographics - height, weight, sex, race, and age.
  • Booked date and custody status - the date and time of booking and a status code such as IN.
  • Holding facility - the code FLWASHINGTONJA for the county jail.
  • Charges and bond - a charge code and description with a bond amount and a bond-type field.

Note: the bond field can read $.00 on a card, which usually means a hold or out-of-county warrant rather than a true zero bond, so confirm status with the jail before acting.

Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates

The county roster covers pre-trial detainees and people serving short county sentences. Sentenced felons move to a Florida DOC prison and appear in the state offender search. Federal inmates appear in the Bureau of Prisons locator, and immigration detainees appear in the ICE system. The Florida DOC offender search, the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, and the ICE detainee locator each cover a different slice. The table below matches custody to the right tool.

CustodyWhere to Look
Pre-trial or short sentenceWashington County jail roster
Sentenced felonFlorida Department of Corrections (FDC) locator
Federal inmateFederal BOP locator
Immigration holdICE detainee locator

The state search works a little differently from the county roster. The Florida DOC database refreshes the full inmate population weekly, while release dates and location changes update nightly. It accepts a last name, a first name, or a six-character DC number, and it warns that its data can change quickly. It covers only people sentenced to state prison or state supervision, not county jail or county probation, which is why a freshly arrested local inmate will never show up there.

For custody alerts on a county inmate, the VINELink link on each roster card lets you sign up for a notice when status changes. That covers the gap when you cannot check the roster every day. Booking photos for current inmates appear on the Washington County jail mugshots page.

Washington County Jail Facilities

The Washington County Jail is the county's only local jail, and it is the facility behind the online roster. Two state prisons also sit in the county, but they hold sentenced DOC inmates rather than local detainees, and each has its own page. The contact card below covers the jail and the sheriff's records division, the two offices most people need.

Requesting Older Washington County Booking Records

When a person is no longer on the roster, the booking record does not vanish. It moves to the sheriff's records division under Florida's public-records law. The custodian is Terisa Hayes, and requests can go in by phone, by email to records@wcso.us, by mail to the WCSO records address, through the online records form, or in person at the records lobby. The sheriff's FAQ says requests under Florida Statutes Chapter 119 are accommodated and that records are open for inspection or copying unless a legal exemption applies.

The records division reviews each request and gives a fee estimate before releasing anything, with payment due before release. Victims or reporting parties can get their own documents at no charge with a valid photo ID. The common charges are listed below.

Record or ServiceFee
Case report copies$0.15 per page
Certified copies$1.00 per copy
Clerical research over 15 minutes$20.00 first hour, then $5.00 per quarter hour
Local background check$10.00 per person, $1.00 each added name, $0.15 per page

Note: the sheriff's office can help with local arrest history, but the outcome of a case is kept by the Clerk of Court, so a disposition question goes there rather than to records.

Roster and Custody Terms Explained

The roster and the records that surround it use a handful of terms that trip people up. A quick read of the ones below makes a profile easier to understand, since a status code or a hold can change what a bond figure really means.

Booking
The jail intake event after an arrest that creates the custody record, the mugshot, and the inmate ID.
Custody status
A code such as IN that says whether the person is currently held, shown with the date it was recorded.
Detainer
A hold placed by another agency that can keep a person in custody even after local bond is met.
No-bond hold
A status where release is not available until a court acts or a hold is resolved.
Capias
A court arrest order, often issued after a missed court date or unpaid costs.
VINELink
The public notification system that emails or calls you when an inmate's custody status changes.

Booking Process in Washington County

The sheriff has not published a step-by-step booking narrative, but the roster fields show what intake produces. After an arrest, a person is taken to the Washington County Jail for booking. Intake creates the inmate ID, the booked date and time, the custody status, the holding-facility code, the demographic fields, the mugshot, and the charge and bond entries. The booking record appears on the public roster after processing, though the sheriff does not state a refresh interval.

If the person is not released, the case moves toward a first appearance, which Florida Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.130 generally sets within 24 hours. The charges shown at booking come from the arrest and may not match the charges the State Attorney later files. That difference is covered on the court records after a jail arrest page.

Visitation Hours and Rules

The sheriff publishes a detailed visitation schedule built around pods and cell groups rather than a broad weekday plan. Each pod has its own block, split by cell numbers, and Monday and Wednesday are recreation days with no listed visits. Friday covers holding, detox and medical cells, and protective custody. The schedule below reflects the published pod and cell blocks. The lead-in image shows the source page, and the WCSO visitation rules page lays out the full pod and cell schedule.

Mail, Money, and Phone Contact

The sheriff has not posted mail rules, a commissary vendor, a money-deposit service, or a phone provider on the pages reviewed for this site. Because none of that is published, this page does not name a vendor or quote a fee. The reliable route is the jail itself. Call 850-638-6110 to confirm a person is in custody and to ask how mail, deposits, and calls are handled before you send anything.

Note: Confirm a person is still in custody at the Washington County Jail before sending money or planning a visit, since release can drop them off the roster the same day.
